ABOUT

Applications must be for projects that propose to build, revitalize, expand, or enhance our community through infrastructure development that addresses barriers to accessing sports for children and youth.

Applications are being accepted until July 20th, with the successful applicant(s) granted up to $100,000 towards the completion of their positive impact project.

Ottawa REDBLACKS fans will vote on the top  projects, with the winning project being announced on October 3rd.

WHY

Far too many children and youth in Ottawa do not benefit from active play and miss out on learning valuable life lessons, including social, physical, cognitive, emotional, and moral development. Children and youth of all abilities in our community deserve to have equal and equitable access to participate in play. The unfortunate reality, however, is that over 60% of children and youth in Canada don’t meet the recommendation of 60 minutes of moderate-to vigorous-intensity physical activity per day.

There are numerous barriers that limit their involvement in play, including financial, health-related, gender or cultural. We strive to break down these barriers so that all kids in Ottawa can experience the power of sports and play to excel and achieve their full potential.
