Our Game Plan

Our goal is to ensure all children and youth in our community have the opportunity to play, learn and develop through sports.

At the OSEG Foundation, we believe that by sharing our passion for sports through structured youth development programs, kids will have an opportunity to excel and reach their full potential.

Together, with our coaches and players from the Ottawa REDBLACKS and Ottawa 67s – the OSEG Foundation will develop programs and initiatives that get more kids off the sidelines and into the game.

Mission: The OSEG Foundation will be a catalyst for social change by leveraging the power of sport to improve the lives of children and youth.

St. Mark High School – All-Girls Tackle Football

History was made on April 29th, 2019 as the OSEG Foundation welcomed the St. Mark High School all-girls tackle football team to play on the field at TD Place as a Canadian first! These girls have made a statement that girls can tackle anything and sport for all is part of our community.

The OSEG Foundation was honoured to host the players, coaches, staff and fans for a great afternoon of football to support their progress on a beautiful Spring Day!

What a tremendous achievement locally, regionally and nationally to inspire youth to pursue sport equally because at St. Mark, these girls ask, “WHY NOT US?”

The Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group, the OSEG Foundation and our sports teams – the Ottawa REDBLACKS and the Ottawa 67’s  – are proud to support local charitable initiatives that give more children and youth the opportunity to engage in sport and sport development. Over the last year, we have partnered with a number of local organizations to create positive social change.

One of the most notable partnerships involved the refurbishment of the educational and learning areas at the Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre School. The OCTC school serves medically complex and technologically dependent students in kindergarten through Grade 3. The upgrades, which incorporate fun activity zones, murals, interactive exploration walls and creative learning spaces – are designed to help improve the everyday learning and therapeutic experience of the students. The OCTC school renovation project was a collaboration between the Smilezone Foundation and the Ottawa 67s.

The Ottawa REDBLACKS are deeply committed to investing in our young athletes and growing the sport of football, and to that end over the last three years we’ve contributed over $350,000 to minor football programs in our community. As an extension of that commitment, the Ottawa REDBLACKS and the OSEG Foundation are hosting a series of Coaching Clinics, giving minor football coaches like you access to professional coaching staff and the opportunity to learn new skills and techniques for all levels of play. Additionally, through the Coaching Clinics you will be exposed to key strategies that will help with practice organization, offensive/defensive and special teams drill selection and overall fundamentals of the game.

The first REDBLACKS Football Coaching Clinic was hosted on April 14, 2018 with 135 minor football coaches taking part resulting in 1,080 hours of coaching instruction. The coaches will be sharing the skills and techniques they learned with approximately 4,050 children and youth in our community.

Signature Events + Community Partnerships

The OSEG Foundation is proud to work with hundreds of community volunteers, donors and business leaders to help raise funds and awareness for our Mission to make Ottawa more inclusive through sport. In 2019, we held the Women’s Training Camp in late July and our Gourmet on the Gridiron dinner on the field at TD Place on August 18th. We are incredibly proud to collaborate on this initiative:

2020 Football Coaching Clinic

The Ottawa REDBLACKS extend an invitation to all coaches in Ottawa and beyond for our virtual football coaching clinic. Mark your calendar, the virtual clinic runs every Tuesday and Thursday from September 15 to October 1, 2020.

Gourmet on the Gridiron

On Sunday, August 18, 2019, the OSEG Foundation brought community and business leaders together with the Ottawa REDBLACKS at TD Place to raise funds to help kids and youth get off the sidelines and into the game of sport to reach their full potential and excel in life.

THANK YOU!

THANK YOU for helping to make the first ever Gourmet on the Gridiron Presented by Site Preparation Limited such a huge success!

The sold-out crowd of close to 400 participants gathered on the field at TD Place for an evening of football and fun with the Ottawa REDBLACKS.

Hosted by TSN’s Kate Beirness and CTV Ottawa’s Henry Burris (Honorary President of the OSEG Foundation), the evening included a photo-op with the Grey Cup, a chat with CFL Commissioner Randy Ambrosie, a spiral throwing lesson with REDBLACKS QB Trevor Harris and a kicking demo with REDBLACKS kicker Lewis Ward.

Along with picture-perfect weather for the evening, guests also enjoyed a four-course meal courtesy of Levy, signature VIP cocktail presented by BDO and gourmet donuts sponsored by Palladium Insurance.

Thank you to all of our Gourmet on the Gridiron sponsors and guests for helping to raise close to $200,000 for youth sports programs through the OSEG Foundation.

THANK YOU!

Thank you to our 350+ participants, sponsors and volunteers for helping to make the 2018 REDBLACKS Women’s Training Camp Presented by St. Laurent such a huge success!

Together, we raised more than $105,000 for the OSEG Foundation.  Those funds will be directed to programming that engages girls in sport, and gives them an opportunity to learn from positive role models.
